The Ancient Olympics were in honor of the Greek gods. The Olympics were forgotten for a while but eventually restarted to entertain people of all countries. The modern day Olympics experience is enjoyable because the Olympics have been exciting for many years with countries from all over the world and because the biathlon has made the Winter Olympics interesting.
First, countries have been participating for many years making the Olympics exciting. In more depth, it took one man to convince countries from around the world to participate. The modern Olympics were restored by a French man named Baron Pierre de Coubertin (Rosenberg). In addition, Baron Pierre de Coubertin traveled the world telling about his idea. He organized a meeting of 79 delegates from different countries who voted unanimously to restore the Olympics (Rosenberg). To give more information, the Modern Olympics were very small when they began. In the first modern Olympics 14 nations were represented but most of the athletes were from Greece (Gettings). This one idea has lasted over a hundred years and turned into a sport sensation.
Finally, the biathlon has made the Winter Olympics exiting. To begin, the Biathlon combines two different sports. This event consists of precision rifle shooting and cross-country skiing (Dares). Next, the biathlon is a very difficult sport. The biathlon challenges athletes to try to control their breathing long enough to shoot a target the size of a golf ball (Bryant). Also, the biathlon is popular in every nation. The biathlon has become the biggest sport to watch in Europe (Bryant). An athlete has to be very competitive to do well in the biathlon.
In conclusion, the Olympics have been an around the world sensation because the Olympics have competed with many countries for many years making it enjoyable to watch and because the winter Olympics have games like the biathlon. The Olympics are watched every two years in about every country. The Olympics are something to entertain everyone.
